The 2% Rule

Definition:

The 2% rule is a rule of thumb used in real estate investing to determine whether a rental property is a good investment. The rule states that the monthly rent should be at least 2% of the property's purchase price. 

Example: 

For example, if you buy a rental property for $100,000, the monthly rent should be at least $2,000.
